Well I like the freshness of starting over at level one and not knowing where everything is... maybe people have become too jaded for all that, but I'm enjoying trying to find all the collectors for armour and things like that. The areas are very beautiful, the quests so far have been non-annoying (as in, they're not "Passing The Buck"), the speed of advancement is great and the new classes are awesome. I definitely didn't enjoy learning to play Sin and Rit as much as I'm enjoying my Dervish.

The hero system is going to take some getting used to- I just got the Monk guy and I don't monk so he's got some interesting skills going on. The posts above raising concerns about how you can form parties when everyone wants to bring their heroes also worries me a bit.

Will these characters be deleted or will they just sit there uselessly until Nightfall Release? Cos... mine is kinda rich :-)

a: As mentioned above it's more like single player mentality than a multiplayer environment. It doesn't seem very coop or party minded if people decide they simply must bring their AI bot along with them (which takes up a slot that could have been used by another human player). Also who knows what they've got for the skills/equipment/tactics for that bot. For all you know it could be a griefing idiot/leecher who just bringing it along with crappy/no skills just to get levelled up. In that case it would be two slots wasted (assuming they only bring one Hero)

b: Yep and what happens when everyone and their grandmother decides they want to bring their favourite Herohench along? Boot everyone? Factions already did damage to the teamplay aspect of the game at least in PvE, I'm hoping Nightfall's Hero thing doesn't do more damage and encourage even more people to just go with henchies everywhere...

What's with all the 80's and 90's references in Nightfall?
We can now add the quest "Material Girl" to the list...

I'm too excited about these Heros to actually mind the bugs, and I think I just downloaded the Hero bug fix :P Going to try out!

Unplayable. every time I leave town the game crashs on me. tons of lag, slow download speed...

I wonder if many people are playing it right now?

First impression is that the voice acting has improved. no moving mouths tho I like the music and new areas. Don't really think the new professions are doing it for me though. I think I will just take my character through the campaign.

I like the heroes more than I expected. Micro management? pfft... go play EVE you whiners. thats micro management. Heroes is very simple.. almost too simple. will heroes really be fun to use when im taking my lvl 20 character over to elona? then I cant see them evolve and become stronger

I mean yeah.. its fine. except for the fact I can't play.

I think GW is really ready for life skills, and a pvp revamp... to me its like pvp is all over the place. way to many modes.

maybe its time to let people host their own instanced games and drop the HoH system with the favor stuff and redesign faction design and the kurzicks vs luxon war?

The mouths DO move and the crash bug was fixed in an hour.

I enjoy inventing new builds and playing around with different skills. That's half the reason why I like Guild Wars. The Heros give me plenty of skill slots to mess around with. It's fun. The new skills mostly look good.

I think Heros will (ironically) be more popular among PvP players, because they increase the rewards for having personal skill. PvE players don't tend to have the micromanagement skills required to take full advantage of the Hero system.

The Sunspear Rank title track is a good idea. Music and art are their usual high quality. The voice overs have improved.

Something odd: nearly every player I've seen walking around made their character as white as they could. I personally find it disturbing.

The various bugs don't make me happy. I mean, the game basically crashing if you take a Hero outside in certain areas ... that's just sad.

Possible, but also possible Locked Gates are a feature in Nightfall.

I never counted on the preview to answer that question.

If it makes you feel better, I'm planning to make all my Nightfall characters dark-skinned.

(I have enough light-skinned characters already)

I got to play for about an hour before work today.... heres what i did...

-created all 4 character types, watched dances
I really like the female paragon dance. Their hair is also totally radical. Im glad we have more options than we did in the pvp event for character creation. I also noticed that no matter which hair style i chose for the male dervish, I looked like a Krytan.

-quickly tried a couple of ideas I have been toying with in my mind...
a. Dervish/Necro with Vampiric Aura... did a few Random arena matches- didnt work out like i hoped... although blood magic definately looks to be a good combo to add to a dervish, I think I can cross this one off my list of the kind of dervish i want to play.
b. Critical Spear, assassin/paragon- had the time to do one alliance battle. This class IS working out like I hoped. Im going to need to unlock a few more spear skills (lightning spear is out of the plan) although my shadow arts was really annoying some would-be attackers. I cant wait to bring my assassin to elona.

-Tutorial Mission (didnt have time to get into the first city..) Looks like a fresh new kind of beginning- really makes you feel like youre in the Sunspear Army, and instantly the atmosphere of the new continent enchanted me in a way that the original did.

Talk to the scouts who hang out next to every ressurection shrine. You can hunt certain monsters to earn points.

thats odd, because I am giving myself a hard time about wanting to make ONLY darkskinned characters (female paragon especially - Tina Turner FTW)

I hope the trend continues, because Id rather be a minority of awesome looking Elonians.

So are the promtion points just an easy/ cheesy way for ANY BODY to easily have a title? Unless I've missed something, to earn any previous title required you to either do a lot of time/work or pay a lot of money to have someone else do the work. But now you can simply do X easy missions and POOF you have a title? Seems to take away some of the coolness of having a title...IMHO
